CANYONS RACKS RECORDS AT GRAND PRIX

Canyons finished the Southern California Grand Prix with another record setting day.  Today’s record came from Konrad Antoniuk who swam the1650 in a team record time of 15:47.94 breaking the current team record by .01.  This is Konrad’s second time holding this team record. Konrad finished 6th in the event then returned to swim the 200IM in the B final for a 15th place finish.  Bob Hwang doubled today with a 10th place finishing in the 200IM and an 18th place finish in the 100 fly.  Riley Mita finished 13th in the 1650 and 19th in the 200IM and Nui Harris took 22nd in the 100 back. Mitchell Johnson as 17th in the 1650.

For the ladies, Maggie Hanson finished 22nd in the 200IM and Kearsten Livingstone was 16th in the 100 fly.  Michelle Duraj powered her way to 10th in the 100 breaststroke.

In the end, Canyons saw 4 individual records, 3 open  records broken as well as 2 relay records broken as well as numerous personal records lowered.

DAY THREE o f the Southern California Grand Prix saw more great swims from Canyons as breaststroker Michelle Duraj stroked to a 6 th  place finish in the 200 breast just off her best time with a 2:17.87.  Bob Hwang won the C final in the 200 free with a 1:41.62 to finish 17 th  overall in that event. Riley Mita and Konrad Antoniuk earned their way to the B final in the 400IM.  In the evening final Riley finished 3 rd  in the race and 11 th  overall with his 4:01.44 swim.  Konrad Antoniuk finished 13th in the 400IM with a 4:03.22.  The boys 4 x 200 relay team of Mita, Nui Harris, Antoniuk and Harris earned 4th place honors just off their team record set a few weeks ago.

DAY TWO    of the Southern California Grand Prix saw more great swims by Canyons swimmers and two more team records fall.  Riley Mita broke the 15& older as well as the open team record in the 500 freestyle with his 4:32.62 swim, which was good enough for 10 th  place behind event victor Michael Phelps.  Bob Hwang won the B final of the 200 fly taking 9 th  place overall in that event, just off his team record time.  Bob also swam to 20 th  place in the 100 free. Konrad Antoniuk earned return swims in both the 200 fly and the 500 free finishing 16 th  and 22 th .  For the girls, Kearsten Livingstone earned 12 th  place with a strong 2:01.74 200 fly while Maggie Hanson finished 24 th  with a personal best on the day with 2:04.40.  The boys 4 x 100 relay team of Nui Harris, Bob Hwang, Riley Mita and Konrad Antoniuk broke their own team record with their 3:10.97, taking a little less than a second off their previous record set a sectionals.

DAY ONE of the Southern California Swimming Grand Prix saw several Canyons swimmers compete in the 1000 yard free. For the boys Riley Mita set the team age group (15 & older) and the team open record with his 9:18.24 swim. Riley’s swim earned him 7th   place in the prestigious meet. For the girls, Nicole Antoniuk squeaked into the top 24 with her 10:21.22 finish. 14-year-old Megan Schultz was just the third swimmer in Canyons history to break a record set by Jennifer Parmenter as she swam the 1000 in 10:24.41, breaking Jennifer’s 1994 age group record by .40.
