MIKE
AND VICKY TO COACH LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS
The William S. Hart School District recently named
two Canyons coaches to lead two local high school
programs. Sr. Blue coach Mike Bechtholdt will become
head coach for Valencia High School while Sr.
Development/Varsity coach Vicky Donnelly will lead her
alma mater, Saugus. Canyons is especially proud of our
coaches being selected to run two potentially great
swim programs. Perhaps even better news is that both
Mike and Vicky will remain at their posts here at
Canyons. With the local high school playing field
getting more balanced each year, expect these two
experienced coaches to make a run at the Foothill
titles in their first year.

DANNY WRAPS UP HER FIRST OLYMPIC TRIALS
Jordan Danny swam her second event at the Olympic
Trials, the 200 breaststroke to finish 19th, just a
few one hundredths from qualifying for the semi-finals
and a little off her best. All of Canyons is proud of
Jordan who has carried the Canyons name back to the
Olympic trials for the 5th consecutive time. Earlier
in the week Jordan swam the preliminary heat of the
100 breaststroke marking her first ever race at the
Olympic Trials. Jordan swam a 1:11.26, a bit off her
best to finish in a tie for 39th. Jordan still has the

WILL HOST 2009 JO MEET!
Once again, Canyons Aquatic Club has won the bid to
host the Summer Junior Olympics. The 2009 JO
Championships will mark the 4th year where Canyons and
the City of Santa Clarita will work together bring the
best age group swimmers to our valley. This is an
honor for our us as very few clubs in Southern
California are even considered for this opportunity.
When you add up the numbers, the JO meet brings over
800 swimmers to town, fills several hotels and keeps
local merchants busy. Each August, Santa Clarita is
the place to be when it comes to swimming. |

POOL
ACCESS AND SAFTEY CONCERNS
Canyons Aquatic Club has enjoyed a successful
30-year relationship with The College Of The
Canyons. Contrary to popular belief, we are not
associated with the college beyond our rental of
their aquatic facility. As a tenant of the college,
Canyons Aquatics strives to be the best tenant we
can be. To achieve that goal we need help from all
our swimmers and their parents.
Lately, our staff has noticed an increase in
unattended children, children wandering out of the
pool facility, parents and children cutting through
the construction site and a general lack of respect
for the premises... Read all the details HERE.
