CANYONS MASTERS THE COMPETITION
After an outstanding CIF chamionships, Canyons swimmers took to the Belmont waters one more time at the Toyota Masters Meet. As they had done in the weeks leading up to the event, the results were nothing short if imressive.
Jordan Danny and Nolan Koon capped off their stellar short course season with personal victories in the 100 breasstroke (Jordan) and the 200 IM (Nolan). Both swims were just off their personal bests, but god enough to set Masters Meet records. In both cases they were behind with only 25 yards to go and powered past the competition to take the victory.
Canyons swimmer repreenting 5 of the local six schools plus Oaks Christian and Highland were tired but ready to do business. Other standout swims included Nick Korth's 5th place finish in the 00 breast and a few more tenths shaved from his time, KT Livingstone taking 4th in the 100 fly and JOrdan matching that finish in the 200 IM. For the boys. Danny Colvin finished 9th in the 100 50 free and Bob Hwang took 10th in the 100 fly.

CANYONS KIDS CRUSH CIF CONTENDERS
No matter where you looked at the CIF divisional championships there were Canyons kids on the blocks, in the water, winning races and scoring points for their high schools. With swimmers in Division II, III and IV competition Canyons swimmers came away with 5 individual CIF championships swims, 2 CIF meet records, 18 swims in finals, 3 Canyons team records and helped two teams earn CIF Championship titles.
Division II Championships
Jordan Danny won her 100 breasstroke in CIF record time with a 1:01.96 swim just a touch off her personal best set a few weeks ago. Jordan did break a Canyons team recording the 200 IM with her 4th place finish in the event and a 2:03.18 time that shatters her old team record set in 2007 of 2:06.92.
Nick Korth continued his climb towards breaststroke dominance as he finished second in a crowded field. Nick's time (58.07) was within 8/100th of a Junior National cut. Not bad for a kid who hasn't been club swimming for even a year. Nick took 12th in the 100 fly. Bob Hwang finished 3rd in the 200IM and 3rd in the 100 fly just a few 1/100ths off Gabe Woodward's team record (he's only a freshman).
Konrad Antoniuk took 5th in the 500 free with a 4:36.40 breaking Ryan Parmenter's 1997 Canyons Aquatic team record of 4:36.69 Konrad also took 11th in the 200 free. KT Livingstone earned double nickels as she notched 5th in the 100 Butterfly and 5th in the 100 backstroke. Brent Stevenson took 5th in the 100 fly while Hayley Good finished 7th in the 50 free and 8th in the 100 free. Nui Harris finished 8th in the 200 free then won the 100 back consolation final for a 9th place finish. Sarah Pino earned 8th place in the 100 breasstroke.
Maggie Hanson won the consolation heat of the 200IM to finished 9th overall she then finished 15th in the 100 back. Riley Mita also won the his consolation final in the 500 free to finish 9th overall and well as break his own team record (13-14) of 4:43.45 with his 4:41.60 swim. Riley then finished 15th in the 100 back. Sam Asencio finished 14th in the 200 free and 14th in the 100 free. Michelle Duraj took 12th in the 100 breast picking up a sectional time in the preliminaries and then improving on it in finals. Rachael Stoffel took 9th in the 50 free and Adria Morales took 16th in the 100 fly and 13th in the 100 back. Andrew Skvarana finished 12th in the 100 free while Allison Morales finished 13th in the 500 free. KC Linn took 11th in the 100 back.
The Hart girls won the CIF title while the Hart Boys and Valencia Boys finished 3rd and 4th respectively. All six Santa Clarita high schools had swimmers in the finals and all six finished with points on the board thanks to the work of their Canyons Aquatic trained swimmers.
Division III Championships
Nolan Koon plowed through the Belmont waters to win titles in two events at teh D3 Championships. First, in the 200 IM, Nolan went 1:50.06 set the CIF Division III record as well as the Canyons Aquatic team record (set by Nolan earlier this year: 1:51.42). Nolan then the 100 breaststroke title with a personal best of 56.25, just .20 off John Criste's Canyon team record. Nolan was part of two winning relays and helped his school, Oaks Christian, to the Division III boys title.
