A LETTER FROM COACH JEFF
To All Canyons Aquatic Club Members and Staff,
Congratulations to everyone for a great meet this past week and bringing Canyons it's first ever Junior Olympic Team Championship. Even if your JO meet didn't go as well as you had hoped, as a team we had a great year overall. Plenty of thanks have to go to our swim meet committee consisting of Marc Danny, Gina Livingstone, Marissa Hanson, Ken Justice, and Nelson Wong. The hours they put in planning and running this meet paid off as we ran one of the smoothest running JO meets ever in Southern California. A big thanks also goes out to our core of parent volunteers that did everything from policing the deck to making sure officials and coaches never went without a cold drink. All week long I received nothing but compliments and praise from visiting coaches, officials, and parents for putting on a great meet and I want to personally let you all know how much I appreciate the hard work.
I'm so proud of this team. As I said above, I'm proud of the job the parents did running the meet and I'm extremely proud of our coaching staff. It's something I don't say to them enough, but I owe a big "thank you" to all of our coaches. At every level our swimmers have improved this year and I hope you are all as thankful of the job they have done as I am.
Most of all I'm proud of our swimmers. And I don't just mean the swimmers that swam at JO's. These kids make the choice to give up free time to pursue a sport that all of us coaches enjoy sharing our passion for. Without the athletes, there is no Canyons Aquatic Club. I think most are learning the valuable lesson that hard work reaps benefits and us sweeping all divisions at JO's is a great example of that.
So thank you coaches. Thank you parents. And most of all thank you swimmers. I'm very proud to be a part of this group!
Go Canyons!
Jeff
