JORDAN FINALS AGAIN ON LAST DAY OF GRAND PRIX

The USA Swimming Southern California Grand Prix came to a close Monday night and Canyons swimmers were part of the action. In a weekend that featured 20 Olympic Athletes and some of the best Southern California talent, Canyons young Senior Team made their mark.

Like the river whose name she bears, Jordan Danny swept through the holy land of swimming notching up one great swim after another on the third day of the USA Swimming Southern California Grand Prix. Ranked 17th going into the event, Jordan was only 6 seconds behind Olympian Tara Kirk after the prelims in 8th place. In her morning swim, Jordan set a personal record of 2:19.35 qualifying her for the 18 & under national championships and earning her a trip the championship finals. The Championship finals swim was even faster qualifying (2:18.24) her for the 19 & over standard placing her 7th overall. Now only .75 from an open national qualifying time, Jordan continues to emerge as one of the premier breaststrokers in Southern California. Just a few months into the 15 & older age group, Jordan broke Lizette Patterson's 2004 team record (2:20.07) in the 200 breast with both swims.

On Monday night Jordan earned yet another trip to the Championship final, this time in the 100 breaststroke. Ranked 17th Jordan powered her way into the finals with a PR 1:05.66. When the evening came she finshed 7th with another drop in time finishing in a 1:05.06.

KT Livingstone was on her best in the preliminaries of the 100 fly swimming her best in a 58.24 and earning a trip to the evening's B final where she finished 5th.

Michael Chiu was impressive in the 100 back as he earned a trip to the evenings B final as well. Michael finished 2nd in the race, 18th overall.

Chelsea Griffiths backstroked her way to the A finals in the 100 back with two strong swims.

Jasmine Henderson earned her first sectional time in the 100 back with a strong 1:00.85.

Canyons relays impressed with the boys team of Michael Chiu, Danny Colvin, Garrett Nugent and Ryan Kristensen making Junior National cuts in both the 400 free and 400 medley relays. Their 400 medley relay squad finished 3rd overall.

The Girls 400 medley relay team of Chelsea Griffiths, Jordan Danny, Kearsten Livingstone and Adriana Silva bettered their Senior National qualifying time and finished 5th overall.

Earlier in the meet, the men's 400 yard freestyle relay finished 8th, just 4 spots behind a club Wolverine team featuring Olympians Klete Keller, Peter Vanerkaay and Michael Phelps (3:07.01). The Canyons quartet of Michael Chui, Ryan Kristensen, Dan Colvin and Garret Nugent swam a 3.11.43. The women's 400 yard relay team of Sam Asencio, Adriana Silva, Chlesea Griffiths and Adria Morales improved on their seed time by 2 seconds.

Sunday's relay saw the squad of Livingstone, Griffiths, Asencio and Silva swim a strong 7:51.49 in the 800 free relay. The Canyons men finsihed 11th on the work of Chiu, Kristensen, Colvin and Nugent with a 7:09.76.
