CANYONS RULES FOR POOL ACCESS AND SAFTEY

Canyons Aquatic Club has enjoyed a successful 30-year relationship with The College Of The Canyons. Contrary to popular belief, we are not associated with the college beyond our rental of their aquatic facility. As a tenant of the college, Canyons Aquatics strives to be the best tenant we can be. To achieve that goal we need help from all our swimmers and their parents.

Lately, our staff has noticed an increase in unattended children, children wandering out of the pool facility, parents and children cutting through the construction site and a general lack of respect for the premises.

Please remember at all time this is college campus. Yes we feel it is a safe environment, but it is a large area, with numerous entrances and exits and is frequented by several thousand people daily. Your childŐs security is of the utmost importance to us, and we cannot stress it enough -- you need to be aware of your childŐs movements on campus.

Our supervision of your children begins and ends on the pool deck. You are responsible for their safety to and from the pool as well as keeping them informed on the club rules regarding behavior and access to the campus.

To that end, we remind you of the following rules and obligations:

Swimmers should not arrive too early. 15 minutes before practice begins is sufficient. Arriving swimmers should place their gear in the stands and wait for their group to gather.

Please escort your swimmer to the pool. If you can avoid the locker rooms that would be best. The rear doors of the pool are open for locker room bypass.

Please have your swimmers shower at home. The COC locker room is used by the college athletic teams. While those athletes are polite to our children, it remains a locker room and the language can be coarse at times.

Please avoid use of the locker rooms at all (other than bathroom breaks) if possible. Swimmers that use the lockroom should keep low voices Đ no shouting, no running.

DO NOT drive up the driveway in the front of the gymnasium. That road is for campus vehicles only. It is a major pedestrian walkway and you put our children or the college students at risk when driving up that hill.

DO NOT walk through the construction site behind the pool. The site is the area between the two ball fields extending to the pool read stairs. It is usually fenced off, but at times the fences are down for construction reason. Until further notice, this area is 100% off limits.

Swimmers are asked to stay out of the PE building unless exiting the building. Silence is expected in the halls at all times as there are classrooms in the building.

Please do not allow your swimmer to go to the vending machines unattended. This is an unsupervised area and considered off limits to our swimmers without supervision.

Canyons suggests you park your car near the visitor ticket booth at the football stadium. There is a set of stairs and a sidewalk that leads directly to the rear pool entrance.

Food is not permitted on the pool deck or in the stands. On those special occasions where food is brought in for swimmers, each child is responsible to clean up after themselves. Food is never allowed in the locker rooms.

These rules and guidelines are simple courtesies and represent no impact on our swimmer, the abilities to get to the pool and our ability to offer them the best training possible. These are important measures we all must take to insure safety for our children and maintain a strong relationship with the college. If you have any questions or concerns, please e-mail us at info@canyons.org or come by the pool office.
