CANYONS PUMPKIN MEET A GRIM GRINNING SUCCESS

When the crypt doors creak and the goblins greet, Canyons swimmers come out for a swimming meet.
Happy coaches materialize and begin to vocalize, Grim grinning swimmers come out to butterfly

Now push off the wall and try to glide or a silly swimmer may splash by your side
Shrouded in a daft disguise they attempt the pass you by
Grim grinning swimmers come out to butterfly

As the sun climbs high over COC Spooks arrive for an afternoon spree
Creepy creeps with goggled eyes dive from the blocks and harmonize
Grim grinning swimmers come out to butterfly

When you hear the knell of the starting bell weird ghouls gleam and kick up swells
Restless bones exercise arising waves of every size
Grim grinning swimmers come out to butterfly

The second in our series of Blue and Gold meet, the Pumpkin meet was a smashing success as 107 Canyons swimmers competed at the COC pool on Saturday. 41 of those swimmer had never before competed in a US Swimming sanctioned meet. 12 of our Dolphins, 15 Bronze, 24 silver and 3 Gold swimmers have now competed in both Blue & Gold Meets.

Canyons coaches were excited that 29 "B" times were achieved and 3 "A" times. Special notice to Austin Barreiro who achieved a Long Course Junior Olympic time which qualifies him for the Winter Age Group Championships in December.

The Blue and Gold series is intended to show our newest swimmers exactly how a "sanctioned" swim meet works. The officials were there to make sure everything was done by the book. Yes, there were a few disqualifications, but the coaches all agree that swimmers learn from their mistakes.

Heat winners received their very own pumpkin. The third Blue and Gold meet, our Hoiday Championship Meet, is scheduled for December 2nd.

Many thanks to the parents who came out to volunteer at the meet and to the Junior Olympic, Senior Blue and Senior Gold swimmers who helped stage, coach and offer support to their teammates.
