Age Groups
Age Group I

Age Group III is made up of 13 and older swimmers not yet in high school looking to solidify core swimming fundamentals while working to further improve the technique of the four competitive strokes, starts, and turns. We expect all swimmers to compete in one meet per month. Swimmers must be able to legally complete 50 yards of each of the four competitive strokes The sets run slightly faster than in our AG I and II group and the coaches have higher expectations regarding commitment. Strong practice attendance and swim meet attendance is required for advancement to the Senior I Group. In addition, these swimmers need to be able to pass the USA Swimming Start Certification test.
Age Group II

The Age Group II group is for 11-12 year old girls and 11-13 year old boys who have already learned the stroke basics and are ready to begin training at a competitive level. We expect all swimmers to compete in one meet per month. Swimmers in this group are focused on improving technique, and increasing speed and endurance, while becoming well-rounded swimmers who can swim the 50 yard and 100 yard stroke events, 200 yd Individual Medley. Swimmers will learn proper technique to improve all strokes, starts, and turns. Age Group II swimmers focus on self-improvement through competition at an appropriate level. The workouts are progressively more challenging than those in the Age Group I level. This group is highly encouraged to compete regularly and times achieved through competition will be required to move to the Junior Olympic levels.

Junior Olympic Groups
Junior Olympic I

The Junior Olympic I Group is made up of 8-11 year olds who have achieved Junior Olympic Time Standards. Athletes in this group must be highly motivated and ready to contribute to the team environment. Practice is designed to continue to introduce fundamental skills while training at a level that will prepare the swimmers for moving up through the JO program. More advanced start, stroke, and turn techniques are introduced. Core and strength building dryland is also included.
Junior Olympic II

The Junior Olympic II Group is made up of 11-12 year old girls and 11-13 year olds who have achieved Junior Olympic Time Standards. The practice is designed to maintain fundamental skills while training at a level that will prepare the swimmers for our Senior programs. Senior Groups
Senior Varsity

This group is for a range of High School Athletes from those wanting to compete as part of Canyons Aquatic club and advance to the Senior Groups to those just interested in staying in shape for their High School Season. Meet participation is not required but encouraged and swimmers can come to as many or as few practices as they would like depending on their commitment level. All swimmers should have knowledge of the four competitive strokes and to be ready to participate in a swimming workout before joining. Swimmers who have already achieved membership on their high school team do not have to be assessed to join this group. Swimmers new to competitive swimming should be assessed. This group has no attendance requirement.
Senior Development

Swimmers ages 13-14 can apply to join our Senior Develop Group. The objective of all Senior Development workouts is to help the swimmers gain the skills necessary to be ready for our Senior groups and reach the Sectional, Junior National, and National level. The training methods and techniques used are similar to the Senior groups and designed to prepare you for the elite levels of swimming while still making fundamentals and versatility a priority. This group has an 85% attendance requirement. Move ups can occur at any time.
Senior 1

Swimmers in high school can apply to join the Senior I Group. Swimmers must be willing to commit to scheduled practices and meets. Move-ups are done at coaches discretion and based on room in the group.
Senior Elite

Swimmers in High School and older are selected to train in this group from our other Senior programs by the coaching staff. Only the best swimmers with regards to time standards and previous commitment are selected to be members. The best training with the best, all with common goals, work ethic, and desire to be good team members while striving to reach the next level. Swimmers must show a high level of dedication, time management, and leadership in and out of the pool with the goal being progress to the NCAA, National, and International levels. Technique, endurance, speed, and dry land training are done with an intensity and versatility that can allow you to reach that goal.
