Health & Safety Priority
CAC’s number one priority is protecting the swimmers, the families, the coaching staff, and the facility staff by taking precautionary matters suggested by the CDC, CA State Government, the City of Santa Clarita, LA County, USA Swimming, and Southern California Swimming. It is important everyone work together in understanding CDC, CAC, and facility policies and guidelines to ensure we are keeping everyone safe when returning to practice.

Policies & Guidelines Updated on 1/5/22
Over the last several days, new guidance has come from the State of California and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health in relation to the recent Covid-19 surge of the Omicron variant. Our team will be following these updated guidelines and requirements, in order to do our part to keep our swimmers safe, healthy, and in the water. Please take a moment to read the important information summarized below, and click on the applicable links provided for more detailed information about steps you need to take should your swimmer test positive for Covid-19, or be identified as a Close Contact to someone who has tested positive.
ISOLATION
If your swimmer tests positive for COVID-19, they must self-isolate regardless of vaccination status, previous infection, or lack of symptoms. Everyone with COVID-19 must isolate for at least 5 days, and then follow the below steps to determine if it is safe to leave isolation after Day 5.
If your swimmer is symptomatic and tests positive, they must stay home and isolate until:

QUARANTINE
If your swimmer has been in close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19, they are required to quarantine unless they are exempt. They are exempt from quarantine only if – A) they do not have symptoms AND B) they are up to date on their Covid vaccines, meaning they are either fully vaccinated WITH a booster if eligible, or fully vaccinated if not yet eligible for a booster.
If your swimmer is NOT exempt and must quarantine due to being identified as a Close Contact, they must follow the below steps:
If your swimmer who has been identified as a Close Contact is EXEMPT from quarantine due to their vaccination status, they must follow ALL of the above steps with the exception of having to quarantine at home. They should still test immediately, and must still test on Day 5 or later after their last exposure. Their health needs to be monitored, and they must wear a mask as described above.

If your swimmer shows any symptoms of Covid-19, please keep them home from practice. If they test positive for Covid-19, or you find out that they are a Close Contact of someone who has tested positive for Covid-19, please notify the team immediately by emailing your swimmer’s coach AND cc’ing our Covid Coordinator, Danielle Lloyd, at [email protected].
Please include all pertinent information, such as the last date your swimmer attended practice, the date they were exposed to someone who tested positive, the date they started showing illness symptoms, the date they tested positive themselves, and their vaccination status. Danielle will reach out to you with further instructions on when your swimmer can return to the pool.
All of the above information can be found on our team website under the Covid-19 tab. Please feel free to reach out to your swimmer’s coach, or to Danielle Lloyd, with any questions you may have. We are hopeful that all of our Canyons family stays healthy and well, and we are committed to doing our part by closely following the State and County guidelines.
